Each New Year brings new and creative trends, along with the desire to add that special touch to your home.
Each year we are faced with so many design trends that it can be difficult to decide what’s in and what’s not, but as a rule of thumb, your home should be the reflection of your personal taste and your lifestyle. So, as tempting as it may be to buy that beautiful white linen upholstered sofa just because it's on trend, you should really consider whether that would be a good idea, taking in consideration that your two active kids would be jumping all over it. Design trends should work as general guidelines that can help you update and refresh your home style.
Updating your home décor does not mean having to change all the furniture or repainting the entire house again, sometimes all it takes to breathe new life in to your home are just a few trendy accents.
You’re going to love the 4 décor trends we have picked out for 2017!
Grey + Gold
Most national and international interior design magazines have been featuring grey as a consolidated colour trend. We’re not just talking paint colours, grey can be seen everywhere: on furniture, soft furnishings, and decorative objects throughout the home, from the bedrooms to the kitchens. Because greys are typically cool tones - although there are also warmer shades - they work very well when combined with gold in either chrome, brass or even gold leaf.
We love this colour combination as it allows for an instant touch a luxury and glamour to any home design!

Marble
Marble is a natural stone available in several shades, with greater or less predominance of grey, earthy or rosy shades. In 2017, the marble varieties that stand out as a trend, are the elegant Carrara and the beautiful Calacatta.
Marble is a timeless material that can be combined perfectly with black for an industrial look, or with gold for more glamorous style. Whatever the combination, marble always lends a touch of sophistication, both in classic or more contemporary interior design styles.
In 2017, marble will be seen predominantly in kitchens and bathrooms but also in furniture pieces such as coffee tables, combined with other materials such as chrome or lacquered finishes

Upholstered Headboards
Inspired by luxury hotel suites and celebrity bedrooms, this trend is set to further consolidate in 2017. Part of its success can certainly be attributed to the comfortable feel when compared to a wooden headboard. In addition, upholstered headboards work well in a variety of decorative styles as they provide an endless amount of combinations: in shape, colour, material, upholstery design, finishes (with or without buttons, with or without studs) etc.

Pantone Greenery
Every year Pantone chooses a colour that is the symbolic expression of our global culture, mood and attitude. The 2017 colour of the year is Greenery, a zesty yellow-green shade which according to Pantone, evokes the first days of spring and reflects a greater concern with nature and the importance of rethinking how we use our natural resources.
If this tone of green does not reflect your personal taste, you may opt for stronger shades, such as emerald green or go for more subtle shades, such as pistachio green.
